Trust & safety
Staying safe on SecondChapter
Most people here are exactly who they seem: adults planning something new. A little care helps keep it that way. SecondChapter gives you tools to stay in control, but we can't guarantee anyone's intentions.
- 1
Take your time
Good friendships build gradually. There's no rush to share everything at once.
- 2
Keep early conversations here
Our reporting and blocking tools work inside SecondChapter. Move elsewhere when you're comfortable.
- 3
Be cautious if someone quickly asks for money
Requests for loans, emergencies, fees or gifts from someone you've just met are a common warning sign.
- 4
Be careful with investment opportunities
Property, crypto or business offers from new acquaintances deserve extra scrutiny and independent advice.
- 5
Protect your financial information
Never share bank details, card numbers, passwords or verification codes.
- 6
Share travel plans thoughtfully
Approximate timing is fine. Exact flight times, addresses or where you'll be staying can wait.
- 7
Meet in public the first time
Choose a café or busy place, arrange your own transport, and tell someone you trust where you're going.
- 8
Trust your judgment
If something feels off, it's fine to step back, block or report. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
Reporting and blocking
You can report or block someone from their chapter, a conversation, a message or a connection request. Reports are confidential. Blocking is never announced to the other person.
If you're in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
